Status: Verified
SYMPTOM(s):
Error when setting destination directory during installation.
Error:
The destination directory cannot be the current working directory.
FACT(s) (Environment):
UNIX
Progress/OpenEdge Product Family
OpenEdge Category: Installation
CAUSE:
In general, this error means that the current directory, from where the installation utility (proinst) is being run, cannot be used as the destination directory for the installation. There is a situation when this might not apply and the error might still be encountered. For example, when both directories have the same inode on the system.
This usually happens when proinst is run from the root directory (/) and the destination directory also has the same inode, or using mount points with the same inode.
FIX:
Make sure the current and destination directories do not have the same inode.
The inode can be check by running 'ls -i'.
Make sure that the installation directory is not the mount point istelf.
