FACT(s) (Environment):
SCO UnixWare 7.1.1
Caldera Open UNIX 8
Progress 9.1C
SYMPTOM(s):
Getting error 3697 when attempting to connect a 9.1C shared memory connection (_progres) to a 9.1C database
File size limit exceeded. (3697)
CAUSE:
File size limitations on SCO UnixWare 7.1.1 are controlled via the kernel parameters called;
SFSZLIM (Soft File Size Limit)
HFSZLIM (Hard File Size Limit).
The minimum level for each of these settings is: 0x100000. The default value for each is: 0x3FFFFFFF, and the maximum (infinite limit) for each is: 0x7FFFFFFF.
FIX:
To avoid the error, HFSZLIM (Hard File Size Limit) should be increased. If possible, set it to the infinite limit of 0x7FFFFFFF. This setting must be made by the ROOT user account.
