Status: Unverified
FACT(s) (Environment):
Progress 9.1C
Windows 32 Intel
Windows NT 32 Intel/Windows 2000
SYMPTOM(s):
Cannot launch Progress Executables from Start > Run
CAUSE:
In previous versions of Progress, Windows-based customers who used the Start Menu > Run > prowin32.exe to launch their application without providing the full path to the executable, depended upon the following registry key to point to it.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\CurrentVersion\AppPaths\pro
win32.exe.
In Version 9.1C the registry key is no longer filled in with prowin32.exe. The reason for this is there can only be one entry for prowin32.exe under the AppPaths key and, in the case of multiple installs of Progress, it only points to the last installed version.
FIX:
The correct registry entry to use is:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\PCS\Progress\9.1C\Startup\DLC
From this key, "\bin" can be appended to locate prowin32.exe.
