SUMMARY:
The Progress 9.1x and 8.3x Character Clients(_progres.exe) display the shift-up characters when the CAPS LOCK key is invoked.
EXPLANATION:
The Progress Character Client(_progres.exe) was NOT completely installed or the ASCII file PROKEY32.TXT is not present.
SOLUTION:
To get the PC key mappings to work correctly with the Progress 9.1x Character Client (_progres.exe):
1) Make sure you perform a "COMPLETE" installation of the 9.1x
Character Client (NOT a "TYPICAL" installation) or be sure to
perform a "CUSTOM" installation of the 9.1x Character Client and
select the following four options:
1.1) Character Database Admin Tools - Optional
1.2) Character Base Tools - Optional
1.3) Character Image - Dev - Optional
1.4) Character Runtime Client-Dev - Optional
NOTE: Optional component 1.3 installs the file "PROKEY32.DLL",
which is required for proper operation of the Progress
Character Client(_progres.exe).
2) Create a blank ASCII file called "PROKEY32.TXT" in the
\<Progress parent directory>\bin directory.
To get the PC key mappings to work correctly with the Progress 8.3x Character Client (_progres.exe):
1) Create a blank ASCII file called "PROKEY32.TXT" in the
\<Progress parent directory>\bin directory.
Once either of these methods are attempted, the Progress Character Client (_progres.exe) should behave as expected.
