Status: Verified
FACT(s) (Environment):
Windows ME
Progress 9.1B
SYMPTOM(s):
NetSetup on Windows ME fails to install Progress.
Error indicates that Service Pack 1.0 is required.
There is no such service pack available from Microsoft for Windows ME.
FIX:
This problem has been resolved with the release of Progress 9.1C.
For Progress 9.1B, please use the following workaround:
You must fool the Progress 9.1B NetSetup into thinking that service pack 1 was installed. To do so, follow these steps:
1) Go to the Registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\CURRENTVERSION
2) Locate the subkey:
SubVersionNumber with the value ""
3) Double click on the subkey.
4) Add the letter "a" (without the quotes).
5) Click Ok. The Registry key should now look like this:
SubVersionNumber "a"
Once these steps have been completed successfully, the client installation (i.e. NetSetup) can be completed on Windows ME.
