GOAL:

Setting indexrangesize / tablerangesize -- Progress Explorer

FACT(s) (Environment):

Progress 9.1C

CAUSE:

To use the VST's indexrangesize and tablerangesize as database startup parameters and the Progress Explorer to administer the database, you can set the required parameters in the startup.pf file provided under the %DLC% directory. No fields are available under the Progress Explorer to set such parameters until Progress Version 9.1C.

FIX:

For versions prior to 9.1C, use your system text editor or the Progress Procedure Editor to place the appropriate parameters in the startup.pf file, and save it. Then restart the database to set the parameters.
Example:

-basetable 1
-tablerangesize 50

-baseindex 1
-indexrangesize 50

NOTE: Be aware that the parameters in the startup.pf will affect every database.

For 9.1C and later, you may set the parameters in the "Other Server Arguments" parameter in the database configuration.
