FACT(s) (Environment):
Windows NT 4.0
DataDirect Connect ODBC driver
SYMPTOM(s):
Unable to open response file C:\WinNT\System32\odbcconf.tmp
C:\WinNT\System32\odbcconf.tmp failed to load or initialize.
Registry key has entry: Configuring Data Access Components
Message appears every time Windows NT is booting.
User doesn't have privileges to log on to server as Administrator.
User prefers not to reinstall ODBC driver
CAUSE:
Although the ODBC driver works fine, the message indicates there was a problem during the installation where some details were not removed from the Registry.
FIX:
There are several ways to solve this problem:
- If the ODBC connection works fine, you can solve the issue by
removing the following key from the Registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/RunOnce
At this point the key contains the line: Configuring Data Access Components
"WINNT\System32\odbcconf.exe-E@C:\WINNT\System32\odbcconf.tmp"
