GOAL:

How to Grant Specific User Rights on Windows NT for a Proper Webspeed Install

FIX:

WebSpeed can be installed by logging into a machine as a default administrator.
Typically the Windows NT "Administrator" account is removed from machines because the retention of a common user name is considered a security risk. With the addition of two specific rights to a member of an administrators group, a user can properly install and configure WebSpeed components. The two specific rights are:

- Log on as a batch job.

- Log on as a service.

These user rights are not given to a default administrators group. Be sure to add these rights to either to the default administrators groupor a specific member of an administrators group who is going to install the WebSpeed products.

Follow these steps to add the specific rights in Windows NT:

1) From the desktop, go to Start > Programs > Administrative
Tools (Common) > User Manager.

2) If you want to grant the specific rights to either the
administrators group or a user, check whether the user is a
member of an "Administrators" group by clicking User >
Properties > Groups(button at the bottom left).

If the user is not in "Administrators" group, add
"Administrators".

3) In the User Manager window, highlight either "Administrators"
from "Groups" or a user under "Username" and click Policies >
User Rights.

4) In the Rights Policy window, place a check on the "Show
Advanced User Rights" option.

Scroll through the "Right" dropdown list, choose the
aforementioned rights one at a time, and click the "Add"
button at the lower right.

5) In "Add Users and Groups" window, click on the "Show Users"
button and choose the appropriate user.

You might have to scroll through the "List Names From"
drop-down list to choose the user.
