How to change 8.3x char client font size at startup on Windows ME
FACT(s) (Environment):
Progress 8.3x
Windows ME
FIX:
Follow these steps:
1) Create a desktop icon like the following:
TARGET= C:\DLC\WORK\StartChar.bat
Contained within the StartChar.bat MS-DOS batch file is
the following command line:
C:\DLC\BIN\_progres.exe
2) Search the WindowsME system for the following two files,
StartChar.bat & StartChar.pif.
The following two files appear:
FILENAME DESCRIPTION
------------------ ---------------------
1) StartChar.bat MS-DOS batch File
2) StartChar.bat Performs text-based
(command-line)
functions.
3) Make sure the "Details" option is selected in Windows Explorer
so that you can see the file descriptions.
Each of these files has a property sheet where the font can
be changed.
4) Make the font change in the file labeled "Performs text-based
(command-line) functions".
The newly created icon should fire off the Progress Version 8.3x Character Client session using the selected font/window size at startup time.
