MIPS 3000 Hard copy release note for 6.3E03
ADDITIONAL RELEASE NOTES FOR MIPS 6.3E03
o LOCKING INTEGRITY
The MIPS 3000 single processor chip does not have a hardware based
atomic instruction which would allow Progress to give a user complete
autonomy over writing to the database, bi files etc. There are cases
where this conflict may cause the server to crash. Generally, this
would occur on very active systems where CPU resources are at a
premium.
o PROBUILD
When running load scripts after probuild the following message
may be ignored.
"ld:
/svr3/usr/lib/libmutex.a(libmutexs.o): Non-MIPS1 instruction sched
detected. Executable may not run correctly on MIPS1 machines."
o PROSERVE
To avoid the possibility of hanging a Progress server,
you should be running with the mutex daemon v5.01+2.
To find out what version you are running, enter the following
system commands:
mips:6$ type mutexd
mutexd is /usr/etc/mutexd
mips:6$ what /usr/etc/mutexd
/usr/etc/mutexd:
mutexd.c RISC/os 5.01+2
libmutexc.c RISC/os 5.01+2
RISC/os 5.01
o EMBEDDED SQL DEMO
When using the dyndemo application provided by PROGRESS,
CTRL-C and CTRL-\ have no effect.
