CAUSE:

Some of the newer SCO OpenServer machines arrive with JDK/JRE pre-installed.
The version installed is Java 1.1.7.B. Progress requires Java 1.1.7A (as listed in the Installation and Configuration Guide).
The following error occurs when you use machines with Java 1.1.7B:

FIX:

Remove the pre-installed Java 1.1.7B and install Java 1.1.7A.
