This solution applies to Progress version 9.1X on Compaq Tru64.
You might encounter core dumps when you run 83conv78 that is shipped with Progress Version 9.1X to convert a database from Version 7.x.

SOLUTION:
To workaround the problem you might use the 82dbutils exceutables to perform the conversion.
You might also get a copy of _proutil from a Version 8.3 installation. The size of the binaries are the same but the actual files are different.
