GOAL:

This solution summarizes the different CorVu object file extensions and explains what is saved with each one when you issue the save command.

FACT(s) (Environment):

FIX:

.QRY Extension is for a CorVu query. It saves the query structure and may or may not include the drilldown scenario.

.CVG Extension is for a graph. It does not include query structure.

.TAB Extension is for a dynamart. It contains the query structure and the result set of data as of the last time that the query ran. The dynamart may or may not include drilldown scenario. (Created interactively - only refreshed by pressing the exclamation point.)

.SQY Extension is for a scheduled query. It contains the query structure and the result set (dynamart) of the query, and may or may not include a drilldown scenario. (Created by the scheduler - and refreshes automatically the next time
the .sqy runs.)

.RPT Report format - query structure is be saved. The data may or may not be saved based on the following chart:

If the Report is built on .QRY .TAB .SQY and
Save Table with Report Option = on Yes Yes Yes
Save Table with Report Option = off No No Yes

.DSS Extension is for a CorVu Executive Alert. It saves the query structure, and may or may not include the data depending on the following chart:

If the .DSS is built on .QRY .TAB .SQY
and Save Table with Alert = on Yes Yes Yes
Save Table with Alert = off

When saving .DSS, reply to
"Do you Wish to save the current table " = No No Yes Yes
Save Table with Alert Option = Off.

When saving .DSS, reply to
"Do you Wish to save the current table" = Yes Yes Yes Yes

.LVL Contains color and numeric break point settings for the executive alerts.

.CAT Contains categorization for Report Writer use.

.PMM Balanced scorecard files.

.QRP Extension for the quick report. It saves the query structure, and may or may not save the data depending on the following chart:

If the .QRP is built on .QRY .TAB .SQY
and Save option - With Data = On Yes Yes Yes
Save option - With Query = On No No Yes
