GOAL:

Changing the CorVu ini file

FACT(s) (Environment):

CorVu

SYMPTOM(s):

Corvu.ini file

FIX:

There are several options than can be added in the CorVu.ini file.
The c:\corvu\corvu.ini file controls the way the program operates, therefore, only the CorVu administrator should make any changes to the file.

The following options can be added into the [Config] section of the corvu.ini file located in the c:\corvu directory.

- AllowPartialJoins.
Default is 0 (Off).
If set to 1, this option allows tables with multiple key fields to join to other tables using only some of the key fields (strongly discouraged).

- AskBeforeClose.
Default is 1 (On).
If set to 0, the message "Closing this window will cause any unsaved data to be lost" is not shown.

- AutoScenario.
Default is 1 (On).
If set to 1, CorVu automatically generates a drill-down scenario when a query is run in the Graphical Analysis module.

- Connect.
Default is 1 (On).
If set to 1, the Connect to Server box in the login window defaults to being checked.

- CountEveryLine.
Default is 0 (Off).
If set to 1, the window showing records as being retrieved from a query increment in units of 1. The default is to increment the count in larger units.

- DefaultFont (Arial).
Sets the default font used by CorVu.

- DefUser (none).
Sets the default user name to show in the CorVu login window.

- EfficientTableOrdering.
Default is 1 (On).
If set to 0, CorVu rearranges the order of tables in the FROM clause to assist the database in selecting the best strategy for resolution. If set to 1, the tables in the FROM clause are listed in the order the tables were selected when the query was built.

- FetchDataWithFormat.
Default is 0 (Off).
If set to 0, data from a query is not fetched in the Report Writer until the report is previewed or printed. If set to 1, the data is retrieved immediately when the query is opened (when the column headers are retrieved).

- Fontscale.
Default is 100.
Fonscale sets the size of the default font. This is expressed as a percentage of the default size set in windows. Thus to have your default font appear twice as large as usual, set this to 200.

- HideLeftMargin.
Default is 1 (On).
If set to 1, line numbers on the left side of a dynamart display are not shown. If set to 0, line numbers are shown as a default.

- HostCollationNonAscii.
Default is 0 (Off).
This should be set to 1 when your host sorts character fields in a non-ASCII order. It causes CorVu to resort data locally for cross-tabulated queries. This defaults to 1 (On) if you are using PC Support for the AS/400.

- MaxScenarioRows.
Default is 100.
This sets the number of rows used to generate an automatic drilldown scenario.

- MinimiseCharacterFields.
Default is 0 (Off).
If set to 1, CorVu adjusts the width of character columns that are returned from the database to the minimum width that is needed. There is an efficiency cost associated with this function.

- NoAutoPicklistDefault.
Default is 0 (off).
If set to 0, picklist column shows separately in the dynamart. If set to 1, pick list column does not show separately in a dynamart.

- NoTotalThreshhold.
Default is 5000.
If a query returns more than this number of rows, the grand total is not automatically calculated.

- SchedulerCloseQuestionResponse.
Default is 0.
The user is asked if the scheduler should be active if it is set to 0.
If set to 1, the scheduler is closed without the question and without running the scheduler in the background. If set to 2, the scheduler is closed without asking and the scheduler (does) run in the background.

- UseHostDescriptionsAlways.
Default is 0 (Off).
If set to 1, descriptions that are retrieved from the server override descriptions already placed in the CorVu Knowledge Library.

- WarnWhenRunningQuery.
Default is 1 (On).
If set to 0, the question "Do you really want to execute the query now?" is not asked.
