GOAL:

Steps involved in the setup of a CorVu ABA server to run on a Windows NT machine.

FACT(s) (Environment):

CorVu
Windows NT 32 Intel/Windows 2000

FIX:

Follow these steps to set up the ABA server:

1) Installing CorVu and the ABA server:

a) Log onto Windows (NT 4 or 2000) as Administrator.

b) If users access the ABA server with the password for the user "corvu", make sure that a CorVu user has been created on the server.

c) Make sure the user "Administrator" and/or the user "corvu" who use the ABA server have permission to log on to Windows NT in batch mode:

Instructions for NT 4.0:

1) Start the User Manager in Administrative Tools.

2) Select Policies|User Rights from the menu.

3) Click "Show Advanced User Rights".

4) Select "Log on as a batch job" from the list of rights.

5) Make sure that "Administrators" is included in the "Grant To" list, and add any other groups as necessary.

d) ABA / NT drivers are constantly updated and must be downloaded from:
CorVu Site

e) Follow the steps outlined on Pages 61-62 of the CorVu 4.0 Installation Guide.
Write down the port number.
The ABA server is not on a disk any more. It is the self-extracting installer file that you just downloaded.

2) Configuring the ABA Server:
(You need the Installation Guide and the Port number from the above.)

a) Start the ABA Administrator.

Refer to the instructions on Page 67 of the
Installation Guide. Note the window titled "Select Server Host".

b) Create a host connection (done only once).

The first time you connect, you must establish a connection to a host where the ABA server was installed. Click on the New button. In this example,
you are connecting to a Progress database on a Windows NT 4.0 host.

The Host name you type in should be the name of the Windows NT server. Use the password for "corvu" or "Administrator" on the Windows NT machine where the machine was installed.

You need to select this host in subsequent logins.
