SUMMARY:
In order to work with appbuilder remotely you have to enable anonymous login on the web server. If you have it enabled and you try to switch to remote access from the appbuilder you will get the following message:
"An error occurred while reading the webspeed directory and will be displayed in your web page"
You can check if the anonymous login is disabled when you try to connect to any html page on the web server and the login dialog-box prompts for you to enter a login and password.
SOLUTION:
You have to allow anonymous logins on the web server for the appbuilder function correctly when doing remote development.
