Status: Unverified
FACT(s) (Environment):
Windows NT 32 Intel/Windows 2000
SYMPTOM(s):
Running setup.exe fails with error.
16 bit Windows Subsystem: %systemroot%\system32\autoexec.nt. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications.
CAUSE:
This does not indicate a problem with the Progress installation media itself, but relates to the setup.exe being a 16-bit application.
The error can occur for one or more of the following reasons:
One or all of the following files are corrupt or missing from the %Systemroot\System32 folder:
- Autoexec.nt
- Config.nt
- Command.com
FIX:
Run the emergency repair disk to replace the missing or corrupt file(s).
The repair disk also verifies the integrity of Windows NT system files in general.
