SUMMARY:
This solution explains how to dump data from DB2 files on the AS/400 using the Progress/400 Dataserver DMPPRODTA Utility in Version 9.x.
EXPLANATION:
The Progress/400 Dataserver Version 9.X comes with a utility called DMPPRODTA (Dump Progress Data). This utility is used to perform a native dump of data from the DB2/400 files in a Progress .d format.
The .d files are written to the IFS directory you specify. Any error that occurs during processing are listed in the same IFS directory as .e files.
SOLUTION:
The DMPPRODTA utility performs the dump directly on the AS/400. Follow these steps to use the utility:
1) Enter the command DMPPRODTA.
2) Hit the F4 key.
3) Enter the following values before you execute the Dump
Progress Data (DMPPRODTA):
a) In the Progress/400 Dictionary Library
(DCTLIB):
Enter the name of the Dictionary Library that contains
the server schema.
b) Dump .ds to IFS Directory (TODIR):
Enter the name of the IFS directory. The generated .d
files are written to the directory you specify.
c) Progress Table Name(s)(PROTBL):
Enter the Progress Table names that you want dumped.
NOTE: No Progress utility is available on the AS/400 to dump the data definition natively in Versions 8.x or 9.x. To dump the data definition, you must use the Progress/400 Data Dictionary that is available on MS-Windows only. Refer to the Progress/400 Dataserver Guide for detailed information.
