Status: Verified
FACT(s) (Environment):
Progress 9.0B
SYMPTOM(s):
Message from McAfee: The file _sqlload.exe is infected with BackDoor-G2.cfg virus.
McAfee Active Shield 4.0.x is installed and running.
CAUSE:
The McAfee Active Shield virus protection software engine Version 4.0.70 DAT version 4.0.4099 created on 11 October 2000 causes a false virus detection in the _sqlload.exe file in Progress version 9.0B. The virus warning affects only Progress Version 9.0B. Neither previous nor later versions experience the problem with the particular version of McAffee virus protection.
The message provides the path to the file DLC\bin, status infected. The option to clean or delete the file should appear. If the "clean" option is chosen, the file is not modified. The warning can be ignored and the alert cloed or the file can be deleted.
FIX:
There are three workarounds:
- Uninstall the latest version of the McAfee virus protection
software.
- Upgrade to Progress Version 9.1x since the virus protection
software does not detect the virus on the _sqlload file of this
version.
- Find out if the _sqlload.exe file is being used. If it is not,
either move the file to a different directory so the virus detection warning is suppressed or delete the file.
