Status: Unverified
FACT(s) (Environment):
WINDOWS
SYMPTOM(s):
Error When Copying Database from the Data Administration
Error When Copying Database from the Data Dictionary
Unable to copy source or target database, because we couldn't connect to it. (8265)
More than one Progress version installed on Server
Working directory is NOT a sub-directory of the Progress installation directory
CAUSE:
This error will occur if there are different Progress versions installed on your machine and the DLC environment variable is pointing to a different version of Progress.
FIX:
Make sure the %DLC% environment variable is correctly set to where the Progress version in use was installed. eg: Progress 9 install environment variables as opposed to Progress 10 environment variables.
This is most easily verified by opening a PROENV cmd prompt screen which automatically sets the environment variables as per the installation settings then from the cmd prompt run: set
Once these have been verified test by creating a copy of the empty database as follows:
$ procopy %DLC%\empty8 testdb
