SUMMARY:
If you attempt to run Progress Web Client by accessing the bootstrap.htm file, the .prowcapp file can attempt to run program.exe
when it is opened by the browser.
EXPLANATION:
This happens if the MIME type for the .prowcapp file has already been set in the client machine's Registry by a previous installation of Web Client. The previous installation may be uninstalled but the MIME type remains. What is happening is the browser attempts to run prowcini.exe but that file is no longer on the client machine.
This problem is a known beta bug and is fixed in the Progress Version 9.1B commercial release.
SOLUTION:
To work around the problem, access the Web Client installation page directly instead of through the bootstrap file.
Use the following command line to invoke the Web Client installation page directly:
http://mywebserver/webclient/webclient.htm
Once the installation of Web Client is complete, you can go back to use of the bootstrap.htm file.
