GOAL:
I18N. Progress double-byte enabled (DBE) version support for the Input Method Editor (IME) that enables you to enter double byte characters using a standard keyboard.
FACT(s) (Environment):
Progress 8.X
Progress 9.X
FIX:
Progress has had a Korean DBE for Windows since Version 7.x and for UNIX since Version 8.2.
All Progress DBE versions (prior to 9.1A) for all Asian languages, including Korean, support only the IME that is bundled in the underlying OS or terminal UNIX. This means for example:
- The Korean Windows application must be run under the MS Korean Windows version and against the IME that resides on it.
- The Korean UNIX application must be run either through the DBE VT100 compatible terminal emulator such as NetTerm under the MS Korean Windows version, or through the Korean version VT100 compatible UNIX terminal that is IME equipped.
The Progress DBE version does not support any other IME applications, either from third party Asian Editor software or Microsoft's own software (such as Global IME 5.01).
NOTE: Starting with Progress Version 9.1A, you do not need a separate DBE version because double-byte enabling is incorporated into the product.
