This solution applies to Version 7.3x on Novell NetWare 4.x
It discusses the situation when the database log file contains SE 2003 and the clients cannot connect to the database or the database server crashes with the following error:
Poll returns network error <17> (2003)
SOLUTION:
The meaning of the Novell NetWare error 17 is:
#define ESERVER 17 /* server error (out of memory, I/O
error,
etc.) */
This error has been seen after an upgrade to Novell support pack 8. After the patch 8a is applied, the problem disappears. If you are on a
different support pack level and encounter the error, you probably have hardware or network problems. In this case, check your hardware and monitor the network. Contact Novell for further information.
