GOAL:

What is the minimum or recommended memory requirements for running Progress on Citrix MetaFrame 1.x and MS Terminal Server 4.0?

FIX:

A minimum of 32 MB of memory is needed, while 64 MB is recommended for the operating system.

- The ICA/RDP listener takes up to 2 MB per each network protocol.

- The ICA/RDP client needs 2 MB per user.

- The Progress client requires a minimum of 4 MB of memory, and memory demand varies between 4 and 16 MB. A power user needs double this amount depending on the tasks performed.

Differing Windows NT tools can be used to determine how much memory each user requires. In the Windows NT task manger's tab, the commit charge is the most important parameter. The commit charge total reflects the total virtual memory that is committed to the processes running on the system.
As more users are added to the system, the commit charge must be watched to get an idea of how much memory each user is taking.
