GOAL:

Clarification of Incorrect documentation related batch processes within Procontrol

FACT(s) (Environment):

Progress 8.X
Progress 9.0x

FIX:

The documentation in Progress 8.x and Progress 9.0x. states a batch process is able to run within ProControl as well as being able to redirect output.

The information which can be found in the System Administration Guide, Chapter 5.1.3, Starting Single-user Progress in Batch or Background Mode by Using ProControl is incorrect.

It should read:

1) A batch process (using prowin32.exe) cannot be run from the "other task" tab in ProControl, although a batch process (using _progres.exe) can do so.

2) A batch progress can not be redirected to a file when using any progress client.

3) The documentation suggests that the -OUTPUT parameter can be implemented to create a text file that displays error messages, however the progress client within ProControl does not support a -OUTPUT command line argument under Windows.
This section of the documentation must be removed. The incorrect information is listed as a Progress bug (1997-1126-003)
