Status: Unverified
SYMPTOM(s):
Message received with bad usernum. (792)
All non Progress applications work.
Network appears to be fine.
CAUSE:
Electrical noise in the network changes the contents of messages moving between clients and server which garbles the usernum. As a result, the server is not able to identify who sent the message. A system error of this type is usually caused by defective network cards, cable connections, or electrical noise in the LAN.
FIX:
Isolate the Host where the Database resides and try to run tests on clients located nearby. Reconnect the different LAN segments until you get the error again, then look for the faulty connection or network card within that segment.
