Status: Unverified
FACT(s) (Environment):
Actuate 3.x
Actuate 4.x
Windows NT 4.0
SYMPTOM(s):
A request to generate a report fails
It leaves the following message in the Completed folder:
Failed to create an operation server to handle request.
CAUSE:
User rights were not set properly during installation of Actuate ReportCast (RC) and e.Report Server (RS) on Windows NT
FIX:
When you install Actuate RC and RS Versions 3.x or 4.x on the Windows NT platform, make sure the following is done:
1) Install ReportCast on an Primary Domain Controller or a member server, not on a Backup Domain Controller (BDC). A BDC has no local users, only domain users.
2) If the ReportServer is installed on a member server, create a domain user and add this user to the member server's LOCAL group administrators. Make sure this user has been granted the logon as a service right in the User Manager for domains.
