SUMMARY:

This solution explains why Progress SonicMQ can crash when run
on the Sun SolarisTM platform. The cause of this crash is due to a bug
in the Java 2 SDK.

EXPLANATION:

A bug in the Java 2 SDK, Standard Edition 1.2.2 JIT causes Cloudscape
to crash on the SolarisTM platform. Cloudscape is the Java database
where SonicMQ stores messages that needsto be delivered.

This problem manifests itself during installation after the
Cloudscape database is created by a failure to create the database
Tables and is indicated by the message:

WARNING: Unable to create database tables.
Run "dbtool.sh -cs basic" in [installation directory]/bin.

The message can also occur when trying to create and initialize the database tables using dbtool. In this case, a SIGBUS error and core dump results.

SOLUTION:
Set the following environment variable:

setenv JIT_ARGS="bco=off"
