Kbase 19843: Non Stop Clusters and Progress

GOAL:

An explanation of Progress's position regarding support for fail-over scripts.

SYMPTOM(s):

Non-stop Clusters

FIX:

It is necessary for customers to develop their own fail-over scripts in order to recover from a crashed database. Progress does not include scripts for fail-over cluster support, but Technical Support is available if a crashed database does not restart.

An active fail-over process places the database in a crashed state. If a fail-over occurs and the database does not start up automatically, but can be started by the PROSERVE command, the problem is a fail-over script issue that the customer must fix.

If a PROSERVE command does not restart the database, Progress Technical Support is available.
