Error 47 is encountered when attempting to connect to Oracle.
Oracle DataServer is 64-bit
Oracle 8.x is 32-bit
CAUSE:
Error 47 occurs when mixing different bit architecture (32-bit/64-bit) between Progress and ORACLE. 64 bit progress can not load 32 bit oracle client library
FIX:
Install Oracle 64 bit client and set ORACLE_HOME to point to the 64 bit client installation or
Install 32 bit Progress Oracle dataserver and connect to Oracle 32 bit
