SUMMARY:
This solution describes a possible workaround for problems
starting the Progress Version 9.1a AdminServer using OS/400
Versions V4R3 and V4R4. The AminServer starts but shuts down
after a short period after executing the STRADMSVR command.
SOLUTION:
Check the ads0.exp file for an exception message indicating an error.
The host cannot be found in the Domain Name System (DNS) if
there is an error similar to:
Exception at Date
Time:java.net.UnknownHostException
Message (throw): RegistryManager: RegistryManager - could not get
hostname, using "localhost"
Message (excp): as400.XXX.XXX.com
Stack Trace:
java.net.UnknownHostException: as400.XXX.XXX.com
Follow these steps:
1) Check the machine host name with the host name in the DNS as
described in Progress Technical Support Solution 19309.
2) If the names are the same and the problem persists, then add
the I.P. address and full host name to the host table.
3) To view and update the AS/400 host table, execute "cfgtcp"
from the command line and select option 10, "Work with TCP/IP
host table entries".
