Maximum Open File Limit on VAX/VMS 6.2N and below
On PROGRESS VAX/VMS the MAXIMUM OPEN FILE LIMIT is 40 on
PROGRESS 6.2L15 and below. PROGRESS will yield the following
error if a PROGRESS session attempts to exceed this limit.
"VMS block I/O file array full"
To remedy the problem, use the PROSTRUCT utility and remove
non-required database extents. It may be necessary to build
a new void structure that includes a minimum number of
database extents that allocate a larger amount of disk
blocks. For example 30 extents at 5 Meg each instead of 40
extents at 3.5 Meg a piece.
Starting at PROGRESS 6.2N, the MAXIMUM OPEN FILE LIMIT is
99 on VAX/VMS.
