GOAL:
Is possible to use TCP IP when running Progress on Novell
GOAL:
How to enable TCP IP support for Progress on Novell
FACT(s) (Environment):
Progress 7.x
FIX:
Specified server startup parameter, -tcponly, prevents the Progress 7.3E15 NLM server from starting up the SPX protocol. As a result, only TCP/IP clients can connect to the server. However, even though the -tcponly parameter is used, the network type (-N) is still TLI. This allows you to use the -Mm parameter to change the Message Buffer size which can be used to improve network throughput.
When using TCP/IP on Novell, the service specified for the -S parameter must also be entered in the Novell server's SERVICES file located in the SYS:\etc directory.
