SUMMARY:

Since some customers seem to receive the error 5140 every now and
then, this KBASE will provide one possible solution that has solved the problem for several customers so far.

SYSTEM ERROR: cxdlc: user <user number> freeing a released cursor (5140)

SOLUTION:

This error message is sometimes displayed due to too small -L parameter and it seems that if the current -L value is increased, it often solves this problem.

The multi-user default for -L is 500,
and is limited by available memory and shared memory kernel settings.

A simple test can be done with -L 10000 just as a test, then by decreasing it step by step to be large enough, to find the optimal value that suits the customer.
