FACT(s) (Environment):

SYMPTOM(s):
Problems starting the database either from ProControl or a command line.
WARNING: Propath change will cause library '<lib-name>' to be closed which contains a running procedure. Library will remain open. (2311)
Cannot Find Lock (.lk) file. See EVENT VIEWER. (5780)
CHANGE:
Progress patch applied.
CAUSE:
The problem might be related to the directory where the database is located as this error can also occur when you attempt to copy/probkup/restore the database within the same directory structure.
FIX:
Follow these steps for a potential workaround:
1) Copy the database to another directory.
2) Delete the original directory in order to restore into the newly re-created directory structure.
3) Go back to an unmodified Version 8.3B release where the problem has not been reported.
The problem does not appear to be hardware or service pack specific. Some Progress customers have been successful with replacing memory. Others have disabled other third party software packages like Norton Anti-Virus software Version 7.02.
