This applies to SonicMQ versions 2000.x, 3.x and 4.x
SonicMQ is shipped with security disabled. You can enable security in the broker.ini file.
The SonicMQ payload encryption algorithm uses DES (plus MD5) when security is enabled. In Version 2000.x, for the NFE (not for export) version, you can further secure the communication channel using SSL, which provides a variety of cipher suites with different strengths.
For SonicMQ Version 2000.x, the Enterprise NFE edition comes with 56-bit DES encryption, and all other editions have 40-bit DES encryption. This encryption algorithm cannot currently be changed.
Versions 3.x and 4.x come with 56-bit encryption.
