SUMMARY: Error 1157 during start of Open Interface Driver
This document applies to: Progress OIB/OID
Version and Release Number: Progress 8.2A and above
INTRODUCTION:
If you get the error message "Broker could not spawn a server. (1157)" during the startup of the Open Interface Driver process make sure that you are using the same Progress version for both Open Interface Broker and Open Interface Driver.
WHY YOU NEED TO KNOW THIS:
The error "Broker could not spawn a server. (1157)" can occurs if you have more than one Progress version installed on the same machine. The environment variable point to the Progress installation on directory "X" but the oibrkr32.exe file is on "Y" directory installation.
When the Open Interface Broker process try to start the Open Interface Driver the versions will not match and the error on the error "Broker could not spawn a server. (1157)" will appears.
This situation is common also with network driver mapped using login scripts on file server if you have more than one version installed. If you are not sure about what installation the path is accessing, install the client software on the local machine, point the environment variables to local installation and disconnect the network drive.
