Prowin32 caused an invalid page fault in module GDI.EXE
Prowin32 This procedure has performed an illegal operation and will be shutdown.
CAUSE:
This GPF is often related to the drivers of the Graphical Card. The GDI.EXE is responsible for handling the graphical interface. Today's high powered graphics cards use many large drivers and can cause conflicts. If the type of graphical card is not known, here is how to find it:
WIN95: a) SYSTEM.INI - section [boot.description]- display.drv=
b) Control Panel - System - Device Manager - Display Driver
WinNT Control Panel - Display - Settings - Display Type
The cards most likely to pose a problem are; Matrox (Millennium), Diamond (Stealth), and STB (MediatorII). Problems have also been seen on Samsung, Trident and other powerful cards.
Also, check the resolution and number of colors used:
WIN95/NT : Control Panel - Display - Settings:
Color Palette: 256 colors, 65536 Colors, True color
Desktop Area : 640x480 - 1024x786 - 1600x1200
FIX:
SOLUTION
Some possible solutions for this problem are:
1) Update to the latest driver available from the card vendor --
usually available from their website.
2) Use a Standard VGA driver.
3) Deactivate all "powerful" options like 65536 colors and super high resolution and use "normal" values like 640x480 and 256 colors
