GPF due to old PROCLI92.DLL with V9.1 JDBC Driver
This document applies to: Progress DB V9.1 & JDBC Driver
Author: asatav
Creation Date: asatav 2-Dec-1999
Modified Date: EBI 29-Dec-1999
Version and Release Number: Progress V9.1A2B, JDK 1.1.8 & 1.2
INTRODUCTION:
It has been encountered problems (GPF's or failures) connecting to the Progress V9.1A DB through the JDBC driver.
The problems encountered were failing to connect from the Progress SQL Explorer or GPF's on the java.exe when connecting from java applications using the Progress JDBC Driver.
The cause of this failures were due to an old procli92.dll residing in the windows\system directory.
On Windows NT - C:\winnt40\system32\procli92.dll
On Windows 95/98 - C:\windows\system\procli92.dll
If there were installed previous Progress V9 versions before the installation of Progress 9.1A on the same machine (moving from 9.1A1B to 9.1A2B), this installations installed the procli92.dll in the 'system' directory whereas the new version installs it in PROGRESS\bin directory. If the old PROCLI92.DLL is found in the path, then the SQL Explorer fails or other java application fails.
To resolve the problem, delete or rename the old PROCLI92.DLL from the system directory.
