Installation of the version 9.0b windows client (with native odbc) requires that you first completely uninstall any versions of Intersolv/Merant PROGRESS ODBC drivers (i.e. 3.10). If you don't do this before you do a complete install of the v9.0B client, you will receive the following error :
"[MERANT] [ODBC PROGRESS driver] You are not licensed to use this MERANT ODBC Driver under the license you have purchased. If you with to purchase a licenses for us with this application, then you may use this driver for a period of 30 days, during which time you are required to obtain a license. You can order a license for a MERANT ODBC Driver for use with this application by calling MERANT at 800-876-3101 in North America and +44 1727 812812 elsewhere. Thank you for your cooperation"
Should you get this error, uninstall both the v9.0b client and included MERANT 3.50 odbc driver, the old MERANT driver too.
So, reinstall the Progress v9.0b client and the supported MERANT ODBC Driver for 9.0B.
Progress Version 9.0B supports MS SQL Server 6.5 and 7.0
Note: Support for MS SQL Server 7.0 is new for 9.0B
Progress 9.0B supports either the Merant 3.11 or Merant 3.5 drivers
for MSSQL 6.5 and 7.0; however, Progress RECOMMENDS Merant 3.11 for
MSSQL 6.5. Progress RECOMMENDS either Merant 3.11 or Merant 3.5 for
MSSQL 7.0. Starting with 9.0B, you may also use the Microsoft Driver
for MSSQL (as long as you have verified with Microsoft that
you are using the proper version of their driver with your version of
MSSQL). When in doubt, Progress recommends using the Merant driver --
contact Merant for the proper driver to use with your version of
MSSQL.
