Kbase 19246: ACTIVEX - Virtual Print Engine - Demo to Full Version

Customers may experience problems when they upgrade their Virtual Print Engine (Ideal Software) ActiveX from the demo version to full version without recreating the ActiveX on the Progress frame.

The demo version of this ActiveX allows users to create reports but with the word 'DEMO' in the header of each report. However if the full development license is then installed and the .w is rerun, the 'DEMO' banner still appears. Even if the demo ActiveX is uninstalled and the full license installed the problem continues. The only way to resolve this is remove the ActiveX from the frame and recreate it.

This is documented by Ideal Software in their readme:

Until today (August 1999) Progress has problems with the COM Licensing mechanism.
If you are using VPE in an existing project and you later update
to another VPE Edition (for example from Standard to Professional)
or you update from the VPE demo version to the full licensed version,
you *have to* delete the VPE ActiveX in your forms and re-insert it.
Otherwise Progress will not recognize the change.
