SUMMARY: Error 53 using the Openlink driver
Knowledge Base number: 19195
Creation Date: 14-Oct-1999
Author: Enrique Birlanga
This document applies to: Openlink drivers & Apptivity
Version and Release Number: Openlink V3.2
INTRODUCTION:
This knowledge base provides some information regarding the error 53 when connecting with the Openlink ODBC/JDBC driver. This error does not provide too much information regarding the cause of the problem. Most of the times the cause is due to the Openlink Driver configuration. In order to prove this you may eliminate Apptivity and test with the Openlink ODBC setup from the ODBC Data Administration.
If you receive the following two messages:
-unable to get server handle for generic_proXX (error 53).
-rejected @hostname.emea.progress.com.ODBCCP32 (unable to get a server handle).
PROCEDURAL APPROACH:
-Activate the Openlink Request broker in "debug" mode, set the "loglevel" to 7 and the "logfile" in order to analize the output.
-Activate the TraceRuleBook option in the oplrqb.ini file. This will output the rulebook settings to a text file.
-With the above information correct the oplrqb.ini file.
For information how to configure the Openlink driver you may check
