Title : Procontrol does not keep parameters or settings on Windows NT
This document applies to: Procontrol and Windows NT
Version and Release Number: Progress 8.3x and 9.x
INTRODUCTION :
=============
This Kbase can be useful if some manipulation done from Procontrol is not kept as expected (example : AutoStart option, Add or modify parameters for a Database, etc..).
When the problem happen, Procontrol does not generate any error message.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW :
=====================
All information set from Procontrol is written in the NT registry.
If a permission has been set to "read" within Procontrol's registry entry, the information cannot be saved as expected.
PROCEDURAL APPROACH
===================
- Start regedt32 (not regedit.exe)
- Select HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\PSC\Proservice\progressversion
- Select the Entry related to the problem depending in which folder within Procontrol the option cannot be saved.
The entry could be Databases, Environement or Other Tasks.
- Select Security menu and Permission option
- Select the user currently logged in.
- From Type of Access option, choose :
"Full control"
OR
"Special Access" and check at least "Set Value" option from the list
