Status: Verified
FACT(s) (Environment):
SCO Openserver 5.0.4+
Progress 9.0B
SYMPTOM(s):
Attempting to start a Progress database broker
SYSTEM ERROR: Memory violation. (49)
CAUSE:
Progress 9.0B requires that you have JDK 1.1.7 installed on your system.
As a prerequisite to running JDK 1.1.7 on SCO Openserver, you must have the OSRcompat Version 7.1.0 package installed first. This information is contained in the JDK release notes and is specifically for SCO OpenServer.
If you have an older version of OSRcompat (for example, 7.0.1) installed you do not get an error when installing the JDK but it poses problems in running Progress. You are able to run your database in single user mode without any problems.
FIX:
Install the correct version of OSRcompat on your system. This can be obtained from the SCO ftp site (ftp.sco.com). You must first remove the old version of OSRcompat before you install the new version 7.1.0. You do not have to re-install Progress.
