Summary:
You will receive the following error when trying to shutdown a
database when the dbname.lg file is missing.
Unable to open or create dbname.lg, error 2. (2257)
This error is caused by an individual or process removing / deleting
the dbname.lg file.
To resolve the issue so that you are able to shutdown the database,
you will need to create an empty file which is dbname.lg.
You can create the missing file using your favorite editor.
A quick way to accomplish it on a UNIX platform is by issuing
the following command from the UNIX prompt: touch dbname.lg
Once the missing file has been created, you will be successful in
shutting down the database.
