SYMPTOM(s):
The ordinal 6569 could not be located in the dynamic link library MFC42.DLL
When you click the OK button, the installation appears to continue, but you know something must be wrong.
This error is seen during the installation process
CAUSE:
The Progress Installation Notes indicate that all non-essential programs and services (such as virus protection software) should be shutdown before you try to install Progress. If another program or service has tied up MFC42.DLL, the Progress installation program cannot replace it. The installation continues but it is not complete.
FIX:
To work around this problem, ensure that (all) non-essential programs and services are shut down, including anti-virus protection software. Then install PROGRESS.
If the error still occurs, follow these steps:
1) Click OK when the "Ordinal Not Found" dialog appears.
2) Allow the installation to complete.
3) Reboot the system.
4) Uninstall Progress.
5) Re-install Progress.
The problem should not occur again because the required MFC42.DLL is replaced during the reboot operation and is therefore available at install time.
NOTE: It is important to reboot the system after the inital error so that the newer MFC42.DLL is replaced. If an uninstall is performed before you reboot, the newer MFC42.DLL logged for replacement is also removed.
