SYMPTOM(s):
Getting error 1178 shared memory mismatch after installing additional product to existing installation which was previously running with a service pack.
Shared memory client fails to connect to database with error 1178
The shared memory is version <num>; expected <num> (1178)
FACT(s) (Environment):
All Supported Operating Systems
Progress/OpenEdge Product Family
OpenEdge Category: Configuration
CHANGE:
Added new product.
CAUSE:
If adding a new product to an existing installation and the existing installation already has a service pack installed then the new product will very likely overwrite files that were patched and will return them to an unpatched state.
FIX:
Re-Apply the most recent service pack to the installation after adding new products.
