SYMPTOM(s):
Attempting to create new database while in $DLC/bin directory generates error 1379
You are not allowed to connect to a database in $DLC. (1379)
FACT(s) (Environment):
All Supported Operating Systems
Progress/OpenEdge Product Family
CAUSE:
The databases that reside in the $DLC directory can not be connected to.
FIX:
While a database may be created within the DLC directory it is not advised as many times in the past users would forget the databases were in the DLC directory and when upgrades were done to the Progress installation the directory would be deleted and so would the databases.
For this reason the executables were designed to prevent connection to any databases within the DLC directory which would prompt a user to move the database out of DLC.
