SYMPTOM(s):
Error 704 connecting to remote MS SQL Server DataServer broker after moving DataServer host.
** There is no server active for database on -H -S . (704)
Telnet to remote machine name works with port number
Moving the service name on the client to the top of the services file works
FACT(s) (Environment):
MS SQL DataServer
OpenEdge 10.1x
OpenEdge 10.2x
Entries in remote system host file are correct
Able to connect to MS SQL Server if a new Schema Holder is created
Changing the hostname -H in the connect database screen
Windows
OpenEdge 10.2B
CHANGE:
Changed servers where MS SQL Server/DataServer broker reside
CAUSE:
The hostname is stored internally. Changing the -H on the connect database screen will not work.
FIX:
Connect to the schema holder database via the Data Dictionary/Administration tool. Go to DataServer -> MS SQL Server Utilities -> Edit Connection Information. Change the hostname here and save. Try reconnecting the MS SQL Server DataServer again.
