SYMPTOM(s):
Error 11491 in admserv.log when attempting to start AdminServer
Error processing event: NULL-NULL error during JRMP connection establistment; nested exception is: java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Read timed out (11491)
Used AIX topas to review jobs running and CPU utilization per process.
Many jobs using almost all available CPU.
Admin of system describes those jobs as runaways but admitted that the cause was a known coding issue that they hadn't addressed.
FACT(s) (Environment):
OpenEdge 10.1C
IBM AIX 5.3
CAUSE:
Lack of CPU resources causing timeouts to Java processes.
FIX:
Identify and stop failing runaway jobs or provide addition CPUs to offset the runaway jobs so system isn't starved for resources.
